wtmoore, Racism is by definition owned by the Democratic Party. The American Heritage Series DVD's go to the ORIGINAL Documents- like the Congressional Record...and show that DEMOCRATS have voted every time to restrict rights and liberties of Black Americans. Slavery was nixed before the Civil War by conservatives...and became an issue when Southern Democrats teamed up with Northern Progressives to create policy that would lead to the Civil War... And after the Civil War, when Democrats again took control of the Senate and House, passed Jim Crow laws and looked the other way as Democrats prevented Blacks from Voting using intimidation, even death, to force Blacks to vote the Democratic ticket.

Could there be something to the Hegelian dialectic, after all?

You remember what Marx saw in Hegel’s philosophy of history: thesis, antithesis, synthesis; rinse; repeat.

I think a lot of voters (particularly white voters) were hoping we had got as far along as the rinse cycle, what with the election of Barack Obama and all (racist America elects a BLACK man!), but I’ve got this hunch we’re not nearly so far down the dialectical slalom.

Racism is still with us — even official racism. It’s just taken...
