To restate something. If you fail to purchase a "proper" health insurance policy, the penalty you pay is deducted from any tax refund you may be due. Easy fix. Plan your taxes so that you OWE money (but not too much) at the end of the year. Better to pay $100 or so, than risk losing part or all of your refund.

That's a smart move anyway. Giving Uncle Sam a free loan of your money is just wasted on those politicians anyway.
