Consider the response of the citizens during Katrina. It hit not only New Orleans, but Gulfport MS. Now granted, NO had its levees break, causing a lot of flooding, but Gulfport was nearly wiped out. Which city was pretty much "up and running" only two months after the storm hit, and which was still crying to the feds for help? I'll give you a hint- Gulfport was not run by a liberal who left town two days before the storm and left his people to drown.

The core problem was New Orleans was a city in decline since the days of Mayor Moon Landrieu. People complain about Nagin (obviously incapable of dealing with the hurricane) but the city was already a basket case thanks to Dutch Morial and his son. (Funny thing is Nagin was a cable business executive, though I guess maybe that's where he learned customer service. Anyway he was supposed to be "different" than the career politicians.)

A few other points to consider - the levees broke after 3 days of rain, not the hurricane directly. Money had been provided to fix the levees (because the politicians knew they were in need of repair) and the money was used to build a golf course. Gulfport MS and parts of Alabama took a really big hit from the same storm and both were able to get themselves out of the trouble...NO is still wanting more help for Katrina. Liberals want everyone else to pay for all of the bad decisions made by the liberal power base.

The civil engineers sent from the Federal Government to do check ups on the levees came down to PARTY. They ignored mysterious puddles in neighborhood lawns.

Not only Katrina but the other storms systems that have hit the area since then. Those people want the levees even higher than what they are now.

There was a combination of levees being over-topped by direct storm surge, and failure due to improper design, construction, and maintenance. Over-topping was enhanced by the design of the Miss River Gulf Outlet canal (aka Mr Go) and the Inner Harbor Navigation Canal (aka Industrial Canal) and poorly designed cement I walls. In western NOLA, there was overtopping of Lake Pontchartrain levees and failures due to environmental and bureaucratic disputes about the drainage canals (allow surge from lake to enter city).

Alternately referring to Hurricane Sandy as either a “superstorm” or a “megastorm” our friends at the Liberal Press Office have helped put Sandy in perspective by letting us know that this year’s meteorological winner of American Idol was spawned by global warming, intensified by rising ocean temperatures and sponsored by Big Oil.

Citing no actual scientific evidence- why use science when you believe SO strongly?- it’s apparent that the headlines used by the mainstream media to cover the post-Sandy ascendancy virtually wrote themselves well prior to Sandy’s gestation.
