Mitt Romney: Born Again

So now Romney's sufficiently "baptized", huh? How magnanimous of you. I watched every second of the 20 GOP debates, and found Romney just as conservative as Santorum. But I think all you saw was that he was a Mormon, and that blinded you to what he actually said during that time. The same must have happended during the GOP convention. It must have been hard for you, if you even watched, to see all those Mormons, staunch conservatives, fellow workers at Bain, private sector business leaders and just plain folks praises. How could they lower their standards, after all? When Jesus comes, I hope he measures up in your lofty eyes.

Unfortunately, the people who needed to be watching last night probably weren't. Huge mistake on their part.
Funny how your brain works, Juan. What did you have to say about Theresa Heinz Kerry when you were voting for her husband? Is she the type that's in touch with American women? How about Jackie Bouvier Kennedy, or Ladybird Johnson. Or how about Michelle Obama, who's been cashing in on preferential treatment for two decades based on race, and then on her husband's position? What suffering has she endured, exactly? All these women are the wives of millionaires. But you, Juan, are critical of the only one among them who stayed home and raised five kids. Real incisive analysis there.

Romney's Running Mate

Then why does virtually every conservative Republican icon (except the limelight-craving Sarah Palin), endorse Romney? And why is Romney leading Obama by 8 points in today's Rasmussen polls? If that's weak, you at least have to admit that Obama is far weaker.

Romney has no inherited wealth. He gave it all to charity. The money he has is exclusively from what he's earned and/or invested. Even his (informed) critics acknowledge that. You would know this too if you had any interest in being factually accurate before you disparaged those you oppose. You need to get your information from somewhere other than barroom chats with conspiracy theorists.
Greg, you embarrass yourself once again. You know nothing about your subject. Your disgust for Osteen is greatly motivated by his acceptance of Mormons, and you thinly disguise that fact. Mormons are Christians, and they treat other Christians not of their denomination far better than you do them. Before you continue your anti-Mormon screed, read the Book of Mormon, for crying out loud. Become informed. Richard Mouw, head of the Fuller Theological Institute, flatly states that the Book of Mormon is "solidly Christian." While it's true that Joseph Smith made several fraudulent claims, that doesn't mean Mormons aren't Christians, nor does it implicate the Book of Mormon. Read it, you'll see. It testifies of the Bible's divinity.
Nice try, Greg, but your readers (most of them, anyway) know more about this than you. Who do you yourself think created Satan? Is God the Creator of all things, or not? Far more importantly, where is your authority, scriptural or otherwise, to decide that a belief on Satan's origins is a litmus test for whether a person is Christian? Isn't it wiser to use the same criteria Jesus uses? Read Mark 9:38-41. Someone like Romney who professes Christ and follows His teachiings in his daily life is part of Jesus' coalition, according to Jesus. Why are you so bent on trying to exclude Mormons? By the way, Evangelicals speak at BYU all the time. The Book of Mormon is all about Christ. Your bigotry and ignorance discredit us Christians.

Sandy, what's behind your anti-Romney jihad? Can you name any important issue where Santorum is actually taking a more conservative stance than Romney? Both are pro-military strength, anti-Obamacare, pro-deficit reduction, anti-illegal immigration, anti-abortion, etc. Santorum voted against right-to-work laws and for raising the national debt ceiling, unfortunately. Is it just that Romney's a Mormon, and you're an evangelical? I don't see anything else to explain your hostility toward Romney. Santorum supporters who claim he's more conservative never can back it up with any positions that place Santorum to Romney's right. Years ago, Romney, like Reagan, altered some views on social issues. Is that only allowed for non-Mormons?
