There is a world of difference between disapproving of someone's life choices or being distrustful or wary of those of certain ethnicities (everyone is entitled to their opinions) and actively attempting to harm a person or their livlihood over them. The problem is the Leftists/Socialists have painted the white person who gives a wide berth to the young black men who are dressed like thugs with the same brush as the KKK member advocating lynching. They have lumped the person who doesn't want their young child exposed to homosexuality (or any sexuality) or people with religious objections in with a roaming gang of "gay bashers". They have equated disagreement on political policy with racism. These words no longer have an impact on many.
