why are the equal federal rights important to you? Why not just write up a contract? Why is it that the Left in the 70s called marriage 'institutionalized rape' and the marriage certificate 'just a piece of paper' and now insist that this terrible, but meaningless institution be changed for all time to include 'gays'

"I share my small yet profound truth with YOU : "I WAS BORN GAY". How do you know? What tests did you perform to rule out the influence of environmental factors? Another question: are you attracted to all members of the opposite sex (by 'all' I mean generally, not everyone) or just those who are also 'gay.' Do you know the difference without asking?
Guaranteed amnesty and a promise of border control? Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice..

"Keynes' sexual preferences and behavior are flat irrelevant." Perhaps to the practical implications of the theory, but the question is whether his personality influenced the genesis of the theory.

"If it was revealed that Milton Friedman was -- fill in the blank -- a Baal worshiper, necrophiliac, whatever, it wouldn't change my respect for his economic ideas." The interesting question is whether it would it is more or less likely for a Baal worshipper to put forth a specific type of economic theory - or any other type of theory in any other type of field. In other words, does the personal influence the theory, idea, hypothesis? Isn't the 'personal' also partly a product of his/her times/culture? Readers of the physicist and philosopher of science, Pierre Duhem would most certainly think so. For example, was not Darwin and Darwinism strongly influenced by the atheism of Erasmus and the scoffing anti-religious Victorian enlightenment?
Why is Ransom keeping tip #4 from us? It must be the ultimate in investment tips, pulled from the article by the SEC! "Note: Readers of Townhall Finance should always shoot me an email if they have questions about money and markets" - John: where is tip number 4???
I can't stand Matthews, but really, the head of the NRA uses phrases like "Northern War of Agression" and "Fake President" Obama is a terrible, lefty, solipsistic ruinous politician with totalitarian instincts, but those phrases just give the morons like Chrissy and the no information voters ammo, and they will use it to spray paint all opposed Obama with the monochromatic racist brush.
looks like the Blame Bush Library will go forth as planned. Obamaphiles have nothing else.
...current 'reform' effort seems only to add bells whistles and obfuscations to a murky system that too few are interested in enforcing.
The conservative position is simply that we want the US to be in control of it's own border. The fence is just a more visible means to that end, but it is insufficient. There are all sorts of immigration laws, but they are routinely ignored or flatly and openly disregarded, particularly by this administration. Unlike Eric Holder, we don't believe that the entire world has US civil rights. We believe that coming to the US as a citizen or a visitor is a privilege; even seasonal or low level workers receive huge benefits for doing the jobs that "Americans won't do." But we don't want to specifically encourage illegal entry by the people who are going to drain the system. So control of the immigration process is what matters, and the...
Broussard's comments provide a good description of what tolerance really should mean, in practice. The Left would do well to follow those guidelines, but sadly, they probably won't.
