I am entitled to Social Security benefits. Unemployment benefits. Medicare. I've paid into those funds my whole life. These funds would be in good shape had they not been raided to pay for other programs and pork. They would be in good shape had we not suffered two Republican engineered recessions that crashed wages and therefore contributions to these funds. I will tell you who is not entitled to anything, though: Mitch McConnell is not. He doesn't show enough work product to warrant a 6-figure salary, he hasn't contributed enough to his pension plan to get the return he will, nor has he done anything to merit the special banking privileges he gets, the gym he enjoys, and the health care plan he has. Mitch McConnell is a disgrace.

But the fact that the dems under LBJ started raiding Social Security in the 60's and replacing the money with IOUs has nothing to do with it, right?

Good Lord., you progs are STUPID!

Hey .... Mitch is no disgrace.

Just because you paid into SS and Medicare does not mean you paid enough to cover lll of your benefits for your entire life.

Another misinformed liberal. Social Security has an unfunded liability of $20 trillion while Medicare has an unfunded liability of $80 - $200 trillion. Both of these programs are an example of liberals promising more to the people than they can pay for.

UPDATE: Senator Harry Reid appeared on the floor of the Senate this evening announcing that there would be no vote tonight. He said that they will reconvene Monday morning at 11am. “There’s still significant distance between the two sides, but negotiations continue,” Reid said. “There’s still time left to reach an agreement, and we intend to continue negotiations.” With only one day left of the year, it is looking like a very slim chance the two sides can come together to reach a fiscal cliff deal.

UPDATE: Republicans have taken the CPI off the table in an effort to help negotiations....
