Of course Romney Ryan cannot succeed if elected. Their only role would be to force some new thinking which would lead to a Democratic Landslide in 2016 but perhaps subsequent to that a realignment into something that makes more sense. An Obama win would put of this rethinking process for four years or until there was a financial crisis. Neither result will be fun to watch unfold. But defeating Obama is probably a way to move things forward more quickly.
