Mr. Payne, your comments about Senator McCain speak volumes. He was an awful candidate. (I did not say and am not saying he was an awful man. He was and is a hero for his service in the US Navy during the Vietnam "War" and his months as a POW.) Votes are powerful things. Most times, the reasons behind the votes are even more powerful. The honesty of the article is compelling and greatly appreciated. Regardless, hopefully BHO will be a 1-term President and then he can ride off into history as the first President of the United States with an African ancestry.

I couldn't agree more regarding McCain. He was a war hero, but not a good candidate, and I don't think he would have made a particularly good president either....although anyone would be an improvement over Obama. Hopefully Mitt Romney will be our next president, and we can get on with healing this nation and altering our future. The next time a Black person runs for president, I pray that he has more in his resume than a teleprompter.

A few years ago I appeared on the Glenn Beck show and discussed my "briefcase" story about how my best Christmas present ever was destroyed at my junior high school in Harlem.  Glenn asked if we could take a tour and so the next week we headed uptown for a special show.  Toward the end Glenn asked who I voted for.  I said Barack Obama and explained not for political reasons but to repay a debt and I mentioned Rosa Parks.  A lot of people I've never met were seriously upset and disappointed.
