Sounds like Mr. Fontova would like to go back to the good old days of the Batista regime, when all was sweetness and light.

Batista has been gone for decades, and out of office for over half century. The only thing Castro and his minions has to show for is a basket case . An economy that hardly produce anything and allways depend on a sugar daddy for it's support.

that is merely your delusion about what Mr. Fontova is trying to tell us.

how about if we all admit that living under any dictator is less than grand? Batista was a dictator who was not concerned for the welfare of his people - just like every other dictator. Castro has (historical fact) more than did Batista of the Cuban people - why does that make him a better dictator than Batista. Why not allow Cuba to have a free enterprise system and a duly elected republican form government (that is, elected representation) and a choice from more than one party? Would that be asking too much? The problem is, dictators are dictators neither conservative nor liberal - just dictators.

The Batista regime WAS sweetness and light compared to communism. Just look at the figures for immigration--YES!--people were purposely immigrating to Cuba during the Batista years, income relative to other American countries, etc. Fontova has covered all of this in his books. If you want an inside look written by someone with leftist sentiments read This Is Cuba, A renegade Culture Survives. I don't remember the author (I read it about ten years ago and gave the book to a communist who had just been there and had been taken in by the Potemkin facade).

Ask any Cuban if they would.

At least Batista did not confiscate the land of thousands of Cubans and force them out of the country to try to start again in the US. Wonder why leftists love tyrants and dictators so much? If Che and Fidel had their way there would be no black people once they had served their purpose. I almost laughed when a black Hollywood actor was praising Castro; but, it is too sad to laugh. Our media are just as stupid - they think they know. Dangerous.

And Batista also respected the policy of the Havana Yacht Club that barred him because he was a mulatto.

Apparently the most tragic event in the Florida straits over the past fifty years involves recreational swimmer Diana Nyad getting stung by a jellyfish.

From CNN to ABC, from NBC to CBS, from Reuters to the AP, from the Washington Post to the New York Times, it was “all Diana Nyad all the time” the past week. The swimmer failed on her fourth attempt to swim from Stalinist Cuba to Key West, was pulled from the water and has been featured and feted in print and on video practically non-stop ever since. If only Sir Edmund Hillary, Neil Armstrong and...
