Many (perhaps 14 or 15) years ago, I purchased “The Landmark Thucydides: A Comprehensive Guide to the Peloponnesian War.” I had just recently read the introduction and several pages of text, when I stumbled upon an article by Victor Davis Hanson on JewishWorldReview.com. As I read the text of that article, I thought both the information and the style sounded very familiar. I grabbed “Landmark Thucydides” and discovered that Victor Davis Hanson was the author of the introduction. I have been a big fan ever since—especially after learning all about Mr. Hanson’s background. I look forward to reading “The Savior Generals.” I have no doubt that George Washington has a prominent spot in this book. Knowledge of history is crucial to the preservation of liberty; as is courage and determined action in the face of hopelessness and despair.
http://www.renewamerica.com/columns/weaver/040908 I thought very much like Jonah 8-1/2 years ago. I am much better now.
No one has been killed? What about the four in Benghazi?
“Too many rogue bureaucrats doing things on their own.” “We didn’t know until we read about it in the press.” These are their excuses?! This proves 1) that this administration is grossly incompetent & riddled with corruption, and/or 2) that the federal government is TOO DAMN BIG!! Excellent job, as always, Katie!
Amen, Jeff2422. You are absolutely correct!
...survive—if America is to survive; we must, as a nation, begin en masse to reject and to have nothing to do with “progressives” (modern “liberals”)! They are the wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15) of our day that Christ, Himself, warned as about.
Progressives exude a sense (a false sense) of morality and godliness (share the wealth, equality, social justice, tolerance, etc.) but deny the Source of true morality and justice. They completely captured the stronghold of (public) education by about the middle of the last century. From this stronghold, exactly according to Harold Ordway Rugg’s plan, they launched their relentless attacks upon our culture—the media, the arts & entertainment; and eventually our courts, legislatures and bureaucracies. As a result, at least generally, we Americans no longer trust God and His Power and Authority so much as we trust “experts,” politicians and “leaders.” Even though they fail us all time and time again! If Liberty and Justice are to...
”People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people” (II Timothy 3:2-5 NIV). The USA, generally—if not overwhelmingly, began as a nation that took this message of St. Paul to heart. Then came the “progressives,” especially, the “progressive ‘educators.” Please see www.renewamerica.com/columns/weaver/040308 and www.renewamerica.com/columns/weaver/120301....
Thank you! And thanks for your responses!!
A government powerful enough (& tyrannical enough) to tell people how to live is illegitimate. Why? Because it places the rule of man (or men) above the Rule of Law. A person who is socially liberal is just as bad. Why? Same reason. Read the first two paragraphs of the Declaration of Independence, jburkiewicz!! You need to do your homework a little better.
