WRONG.... Think about this, if so many rich Cubans left, then that shoots down the argument that it was a bad place to live since there were so many RICH people. First of all, nobody really left right before Castro. The exile came AFTER Castro. There were different waves. The first on January 1959, right after Castro took over and started executing people. These were mostly members of the Batista gov, and yes, many business people but not all. Then we had the Camarioca wave in the early sixties where after the Bay of Pigs and the takeover of Cuban businesses by the goverment. The started with the larger plantations and worked their way down until ALL private property was made illegal. By the way, most of the large sugar mills

It is a privilege to live here and I hope we can turn this around. By the way, I went to UGA, my sister is a teacher, and so was my mom and my dad is a retired doctor. When I was in the 7th grade in a small town in Ga. in 1975, I could speak ONE word of English. I did not have any "special English" lessons. You just learn. When I graduated from HS, I was in the top 5% of my class, Nat. Honor Society, Who is Who of Amer. High School students etc. And so were most of my Cuban friends who grew up in Milledgeville, Ga. Quite interesting, we had about thirty exiled Cuban families in this small town. Our dads were MDs working at the State Hospital which was the largest Hospital in Georgia.
Hispanic is not a race, but more of culture...and even that is BS because I am Cuban and white and have traveled all over South America on business so I know every country very well and the racial makeup varies with its history, yet they dump everyone in the minority bus. Mexican culture and race is very different from Uruguayan culture and race. But get this, black Cubans see themselves as 1st Cubans and then black and they don't have a problem with that. Same for Brazilian blacks. However American Blacks are African 1st, American 2nd. Before you called me racist, I saw this on a PBS Show about Black Latin Americans where the host is a African-American Harvard Professor...
Part 3- They had not yet gotten married on purpose to get more "free stuff" from the gov.. 2. American born Cubans- Hollywood, schools and ignorance is what makes them vote Democrat. Just like everyone else. Ignorance of history that is not taught, both American and world history, on purpose. Che is hero to Hollywood right? Jay Z wears his image on his shirt, Jay Z, endorses Obama......Let me tell you, I truly thought that the American people knew better. We have committed national hara kiri, most don't know it and gloat at our dire future. I have seen this movie before, and YOU won't like the ending.
I don't know if there is a limit in what you can write, so I broke my comments in pieces... Yes, some of the recent arrivals and some American born Cubans vote Democrat. 1. Recent arrivals- They are "trained" to do at least as possible to earn their keep in Cuba because of a system that does not reward initiative, hard work and personal responsibility. I mean the Cuban system, not our welfare system. Yet the results are the same. In a medical office in Miami, a neonatal nurse, the wife of a friend was chatting with two "recent" arrivals who had children out of wedlock about the election, their comments to my friend who is a Republican was that they were voting for Obama because they would get more benefits...
Read most of the comments and it seems I am the ONLY Cuban American posting. A little background on me, I came to the US in 1974 when I was 12 yrs. old. My parents were both College educated and spoke some English. The Cuban communist took all we had and we left after ten years of "trying" to leave. The Cuban Gov. allows you to leave at their will, in our case my father was sent to a forced labor camp for "requesting to leave". We came to the US with 35 lbs. of clothing per person. We never took one dime from the US gov. My uncle who came a few years earlier and his wife lent us money which we paid back.
If not for us, Gore would have stolen Florida. We insisted that the chads would be counted with the door OPEN...
Nice, look at the weekly chart of the S&P in 08 and 09. Look at the MACD at the double top with 2000 in the weekly and monthly, and look at the MACD divergence in March 09. Put a trend line on the price, and see how the buy signal was clear then. We are again at a critical level with indicators telling us that it is a dangerous area at a dangerous time. I called the fall in 08 and the buy in 09, and have the emails and charts to prove it! Technical Analysis with an understanding of fundamentals, works.
LOVE IT- I am going to sign up for the Lesbian Studies class and I am a guy!
Until the killing starts...
