Why are you calling Cubans idiots when we voted Republican higher than most if not all "groups" in the US? We pay baseball in Cuba, by the way.

With respect to the embargo, before there was an embargo, there was the "stealing" by the Cuban government of ALL US owned businesses in Cuba. Which included the phone company owned by ITT and thus providing Cuba the highest telephone density in the western hemisphere second to the US. The Hershy Sugar Mill, which provide excellent working conditions and some of the highest wages in Europe. Contrary to what you may think, Cubans liked working for American companies because they were great places to work. Also, the revolution was a middle class revolution mainly backed by the students in the Univ. of Havana and many who did not like the Batista dictatorship. Thing is that the Castro dictatorship has been worse than the one prior.
If you research Cuba's economic data before Castro, you will find that it was one of the most advanced countries in the world in several categories. I can detail each, but I won't now. What is 'too much" private land and who decides? Castro's father was a Spaniard who went to Cuba to fight the "revels" during the war of independence against Spain. His mother was the maid. He became and attorney and drove a Cadillac around Havana. He went to Belen, one of the best private schools in Cuba and had posters of Hitler and Mussolini while in school. He was never a liberal. He was an opportunist who hoodwinked Cuba and the world and took advantage of the situation to become the King of Cuba. Cubans were literate before Castro.

Bread for the masses given to them by the emperor, kinda like the EBT cards and Obama's cel phones.
The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers. Under Claudius, 20% of Rome's population were welfare recipients. No Claudiusphones however!

By the way, most sugar mills were Cuban owned not American owned as most large enterprises. Then we had a few freedom flights to Mexico and Spain, and fewer to Miami. Here the large middle class began to leave. Cuba was a multiracial society, and yes as a percentage, more white Cubans left. But what that means is that black Cubans suffered the worst from the revolution. In order to leave, you had to have your family in the US "claim" you so since more whites left early, more whites were claimed by their family. Black Cubans fought in the Bay of Pigs against Fidel and his gang and also were in the Escambray Mountains after the same rebels that fought for the revolution realized that what they fought for was not what they got.
WRONG.... Think about this, if so many rich Cubans left, then that shoots down the argument that it was a bad place to live since there were so many RICH people. First of all, nobody really left right before Castro. The exile came AFTER Castro. There were different waves. The first on January 1959, right after Castro took over and started executing people. These were mostly members of the Batista gov, and yes, many business people but not all. Then we had the Camarioca wave in the early sixties where after the Bay of Pigs and the takeover of Cuban businesses by the goverment. The started with the larger plantations and worked their way down until ALL private property was made illegal. By the way, most of the large sugar mills
