It would in fact be a simple, straightforward calculation. In statistics, it's called the mean of sampling means. Even the 90 % confidence interval would be much larger than the variations in that average, making it useless from a practical standpoint. - Al Gore Warming
Dear Moon,
I think we are talking about two different things,...

Within your comment resides the problem. Many people on this site who exhibit great hostility toward those taking a pro-environmental position about anything, be it global warming, fracking, or mercury pollution, are utterly uninformed.
You just re-branded the poster calling himself Canetoad as TreeFrog. Anyone who knows anything about herpetology knows a cane toad is a huge (sometimes over 5 lbs.) TERRESTRIAL toad which could no more climb a tree than could a Rottweiller.
Question: what' up with calling other posters "cute" names. Ericelsnot? That's how little kids behave. When I was 8, I was sometimes called Eric the Electric Eel. And now, at 63, I have someone, presumably an adult, acting the same way. It's very curious behavior. And it makes me wonder how our democracy will survive if the people responsible for operating and funding it act like they're in grade school.
Within your comment resides the problem. Many people on this site (and elsewhere) who exhibit great hostility toward those who question their pro-environmental position about anything, be it global warming (well within historical norms for an interglacial period), fracking (an entirely manufactured scare), mercury pollution (emissions have fallen by more than half in the US over the last two decades) are utterly uninformed.
And one version of the old wives take DOES involve toad urine.
