Republicans really believe that the voter suppression laws are meant to avoid fraud. They don't stop to think about the fact that this issue came up in spades during an election year and has totally been birthed by the Republican party. They can't conceive that this has been dreamed up to prevent people of color, who generally vote democratic, from voting at all. It's easy to live in a bubble when you never leave your house.

So, should ID bans be extended to banking, credit cards, apt rentals, driving, gun sales, etc since it will disenfranchise the same people?

Voter ID is not any more a burden than it is to any other part of living in today's society

A Pennsylvania judge has blocked the enforcement of a Pennsylvania Voter I.D. law just 35 days before the presidential election on November 6.

A Pennsylvania judge on Tuesday blocked the state from enforcing its strict voter ID law before the presidential election, citing "disenfranchisement" concerns. The ruling in a vital battleground state comes five weeks before the election.

The ruling, which could still be appealed, followed two days of testimony about the state's efforts to make it easier to get a valid photo ID, as well as possible hurdles for those seeking proper identification.
