If you are wealthy, whether GOP or Demoncrat, you have "people" to whom you pay big bucks , who's jobs are to scour the thousands of pages of tax law to make sure you pay the very minimum. If they are doing their jobs and the tax rate goes up without new loopholes (a rarity) the rich pay more. Since they actually write checks to the IRS it is akin to us mortals getting a larger bill for our mortgage. The Bill Mahers of the world love pushing the truely heart-felt agendas of the left but when it comes time to write the quarterly check to the IRS they suddenly realize that "them includes me". Horrors!

You've got that wrong. As far as the rich are concerned, there are no loopholes. The Alternative Minimum Tax disallows credits and deductions. it is the people at the bottom who benefit the most from loopholes, not the ones at the top.
