It is all cyclic. and what goes up will inevitably come down. Success breeds the seeds of failure and we just have a good crop coming in right now. Certainly there are many modifiers to the slope of the curve and some of the more brutish characteristics of a society may actually serve to push out the day of reckoning. But it is coming.
