In response to:

How Republicans Can Find Themselves

It seems that women would rather have abortion rights than jobs. If the republicans keep on harping on this they will lose forever. Atkins and Santorum and their ilk are poison. One can be opposed to abortions and still downplay the issue and understand the political reality. Remember its nice to live on principal but losing really is nothing.

You are correct. And NullifyNow misses your point.

The Republicans DON'T harp on the murder of innocents...they simply adopt a platform calling for the cessation of abortion on demand.

Anyone can agree with that.

But it's not enough for single-issue activists like NullifyNow, who call any abortion "murder" - even if the mother's life is in danger. Even if the mother is a ten-year-old rape victim.

It's not that hard. But when you have hard-ball activists like most "pro-life" folks, you get bogged down very easily.

I didn't read that in his post, nor did I find this statement after reading many more in his profile. Where did you get this from?

when you demand everything you usually get nothing. Instead of getting limits to abortion but frightening people we wound up with a guy who favors abortion rights in ALL cases, including very late term cases. Its important to recognize political reality and to stop calling everyone who disagrees with you things like murderers. Its not a way to win friends and converts.

It sounds to me you are just trying to silence any opposition to murdering babies.

So if people are burning down buildings and you call them arsonists you're just an extremist. Got it.

Ross
Yeah, if the GOP would just stop harping about the murder of 50,000,000 innocents, the world would be a better place.

Right. (eyeroll)

by harping on this issue not only did we get nothing, we got a guy who is in favor of even the very late term abortions and that will be the policy. What did we win here? the answer less than nothing.

75 years ago abortions were largely illegal all over the country. The fact is that anyone who wanted one had no trouble getting one and the number of abortions are about the same as now. Thats the fact. Abortion rights are the popular issue and to fight it tooth and nail is a formula for losing everything else and even more liberal policies on this issue.

The anything goes mind set is what has sent the US spiraling down. Moral bankruptcy destroyed the US.

Where are your figures to support that ANYTIME before Roe v Wade there were over 1 million abortions a year? That is a ridiculous and ignorant assertion. For one thing, there were no reliable figures on illegal abortions because they weren't recorded! Where did these women go who had 'no trouble' getting these illegally? And please don't give me the 'estimates' from states that were already leaning to legalizing abortion. Those were false from the start as Dr. Bernard Nathanson, former head of NARAL has admitted.

Soul-searching is not in the GOP’s blood. Many Republicans see themselves as stoic, rugged and hardworking individuals. But after twice losing the White House to an ex-community organizer and failing to mobilize the base, Republicans need to take a trip to a mountainous valley, sip some tea and meditate.

In the quiet of nature, I think Republicans would find that the solutions to winning lie within themselves. After my own reflection, I developed three key insights into how the GOP can win presidential elections going forward:

#1 Keep an open mind

Early on, talking heads like Ann Coulter disparaged Romney...
