I believe the Middle East/Muslim world is not ready for Western style democracy. We help the freedom fighter kick out the tyrant, and then the masses elect something worse.... Lets develop our own oil and gas resources and stop our dependence on a land infested with terrorist.

We can also develop electric-powered vehicles. It isn't just our supposed dependence on ME oil that caused terrorist attacks against us---we have our noses stuck in many other areas that don't supply us with oil.

Electric vehicles just don't have the range or rapid refueling capability to be PRACTICAL,and that problem is not going to be solved in the near future.
We could also switch to aluminum framed vehicles,reduce their weight and size for better efficiency. I've always driven small cars,after having learned in a 57 Cadillac, a real tank.
I blame all the SUV and PU-truck drivers that use them for ordinary transpo.
