Thank you Ken for bringing this to the readers' attention. Here's another example of that oxymoron, "tolerant liberal." When the brilliant Ben Stein ((who believes in a Creator) accepted an invitation to be the University of Vermont's commencement in 2010, the hue and cry from the college faculty was so great, he too, disinvited himself.

Dr. Sowell confirms, yet again, his wisdom and that of Dr. Booker T. Washington, who said, "If you what to lift yourself up, lift up someone else."

After viewing the PBS documentary, "Churchill's Deadly Decision" last night, it occurred to me that the #1 job of our President is to defend our country (you and me) from our enemies... 'foreign & domestic'. All other considerations are secondary. It's not that Gingrich can 'beat' Obama in a debate, but that he is the most informed with a solid grasp of institutional and historical knowledge as well as a clear perspective to enable him to make the best, sound decisions in our very dangerous world. This is no time for another "learn foreign affairs on the job" candidate. Check out the decision Churchill had to make two weeks into the job... and ask yourself, can we survive a lightweight on foreign policy?

Oh, I wouldn't bet on the president's base railing against the first lady's profligate spending. Liberals don't think ... they 'feel' and conclude that, 'the problem is with thee, not me."
Whether Obama wants to shut down the coal industry is an open question. At least, that may not be his #1 priority. Coal producing states are I believe, heavily "R" Republican voting states.

There is one school you can bet isn't part of the protests: The American Indian Public Charter School. 10 years ago it was about the worst middle school on Oakland. Today, under the policies established by the Principal who took it over, Dr. Ben Chavis, the AIPCS is now ranked the #1 middle school in all of California! Change can happen, but not by union-controlled schools.

Agreed, but here's the problem: who is there to teach them to "learn to be strong, independent, etc."?.. The public schools? Absent parents? Hollywood's 'hook-up' culture? No, the leaders of the Left succeeded in taking over the schools which have succeeded in indoctrinating millions of kids into believing that family and faith are the enemy and that the government is your friend. They are now "the useful idiots" Stalin mentioned. The Right has got to learn to stop castigating the "idiots" and start to point out how they have been misled by the leaders who claim to 'help' them. Even then, it will take a long time to 'de-program' sufficient numbers of those idiots to get this country moving again.

Someone wrote years ago, that "the biggest beneficiaries of the Women's Movement and sexual Revolution that resulted have been men." So true. The "liberation" of women gave men the license to play also. And "the pill" enabled a culture of pleasure without responsibility to take root. It's going to take a long time to get back to where we belong... if ever. Yet, we seem to be plowing ahead oblivious to the consequences that well-intentioned liberal thinking has wrought... witness the free condom program with instructions for how to use for middle schoolers that is becoming governmental policy in New York.
