Number 5 has a very simple solution that would be cheaper and more efficient. For all Committees that are duplicated in both the House and the Senate, do like some states do. Make them "Joint" committee's. 2/3 Representatives and 1/3 Senators sounds about right. Then you'd have half as many of these committees who would only hold one hearing on a topic and not two. Witnesses/Press/Staff would only have to appear once instead of twice. Ron A, Sun Prairie, WI
Actually, there are plenty of references to not having a monarchy in the Bible. G_d was against having a "King" rule over Israel; but, finally established the office because of the people's pleas to do so in prayer.

Also, the only conflicts among the founders about religion was that the National government should not either adopt an official denomination or pass any law concerning the religious practice of others, for or against.

The modern judicial concept of Church and state separation would violate the first amendment in the eyes of the founders, because they would consider forcing "No-Religion" (atheism and/or agnosticism)on the citizens is the same as having an official religion.
