While I agree with the supposition that the boomers tended to have little respect for the opportunities handed to us (yes, include me -- 1949), I contend that the generation of adults who started the Progressive movement sowed the seeds of our country's decline. The changes to the Constitution during the second decade of the twentieth century and the Socialism of FDR were the beginning of our ruin.

A 1938 model here! Ron, you are right on with these thoughts. While just a novice in the study of the history of the U.S. I came to the same conclusion you have. Actually the very first seeds of the progressive movement were planted in the 1880's and began to bear fruit in the second decade of the 1900's as you said. The nasty tree of Progressivism has been growing ever since. Sadly, the once proud Democrat Party has been completely co-opted by this ever growing monster. How do we kill this viscious weed?

They were given so much by their hard and hardy parents, who by fighting through a real economic depression and a great world war, helped bolster freedom for the free and bequeathed freedom to millions of others who lived in the twilight of tyranny.
