Mr. Connor must be a trial lawyer. Yes, everyone needs and deserves a method of redress when they are wronged. No one I know argues against that. But the instances of doctors leaving medicine because of the high cost of malpractice insurance is well known. Notice I said the cost of malpractice insurance, not the cost of health insurance. The impact on health insurance is indirect, not direct. And the cost of malpractice insurance clearly increases the cost of delivering medical services.

I'm not opposed to malpractice insurance, I'm opposed to outrageous awards and jury manipulation. John Edwards is a case in point. He made millions channeling the spirits of dead children in front of juries without the benefit of much...
