Well, arming the Marines with live ammo would help; and letting them *shoot* the attackers as they come over the wall seems appropriate. Flame throwers can be very convincing, too. Oh, and there's US airbases as little as half an hour away, maybe some close air support would convince the mobs to go away (or die).
We're dealing with radical Muslims here. They are philosophically opposed to what we stand for. No amount of coddling and making nice, or sending them billions of dollars will make them set aside the philosophical hatred of all things western.
Standing behind a podium and making a speech that would put most people to sleep and saying "we object, no we strongly object" is not how you protect our people on US soil (at the embassies).
