One simple very effective subtle way to ensure your teen knows you love them and are proud of them is to tell them so every day. I say this each morning when I pray over them while they are still asleep. I've been doing this since each of my children was an infant. Its a subconscious implant of a constant fact, "I Love you and am Very proud of you" It works try it. You won't stop the grrrr that's just part of who they are, but they will known you are there for them.
