Why Do We Need Unions?

Why do we need unions? That's easy: We need unions so that workers can be so overcompensated that American car companies must be kept afloat with taxpayer dollars in order to survive. We need unions so that incompetent boobs can maintain employment in the public school system. We need unions to ensure that chronically late, absent, and unproductive workers are almost impossible to fire. And most important of all, we need unions to fund the campaign coffers of democrats.

I like what Wisconsin did to their unions.

We did not go far enough. Without RTW legislation we are going to be beaten by other states including Michigan. I guess first in and last out as far as unions go. Hopefully one of our legislators will author a bill which ends up on Walkers desk. He did say he would not pursue it, but we can only hope he signs one.

You forgot we need unions to get employees who were fired for drinking and doping during working hours back on the job.........with back pay. They will eventually go under no matter how much we sucker tax payers subsidize them. No wonder we're getting our 'collective asks' kicked.

Michigan has now become the 24th state to give workers the right to work without having to join a union. The event provoked more than vigorous debate. State police had to be on duty to guarantee the safety and the ability of Michigan legislators to actually go vote on the measure.

So what is the controversy all about? I agree with folks on the left about the real issue. It's not about right to work. It's about unions themselves. Why do we have them? Why do we need them? What public purpose do they serve?

There's no mystery here. A union...
