Entitlements...fine, fine... WHEN are we going to address the waste and fraud perpetrated by the federal agencies??? WHEN are we going to cut, abolish and put an end to THEM? WHEN are we going to cut the numbers of government "workers"? You want to do some SERIOUS cuts..let's cut the AGENCIES!

Better still: hire a lean, mean, clean and completely independent forensic bookkeeping company to go through the federal bureaucracy with a fine-toothed comb, looking for WASTE to eliminate. I've worked for govt. in two states, and I can tell you from personal experience that the single biggest expense of govt. is WASTE -- both bureaucratic and pork-barrel corruptive. Eliminate the waste and the govt. would cost only half as much to run.

Not only cut if not consolidate some of the agencies, but programs. Rand Paul mentioned but a few of the programs, one in particular I do remember and it was some program to develop menus for what we might like to eat on MARS. Hmmm people here on earth going hungry and we are spending a zillion dollars worrying about what people might want to eat when and if they ever get to Mars. Rand Paul mentioned other ridiculous programs, there is quite a list with quite large pricetags.

As the clock winds down on 2012, the Fiscal Cliff is all anyone seems capable of discussing. Right now it appears that some sort of narrow deal has just emerged that will include raising tax rates on family income over $450,000 a year, increasing the estate tax rate, extending unemployment benefits for one year, and delaying spending cuts.

But the prospect of higher taxes and the great uncertainty that has surrounded this fiscal fiasco has been acting like sand in the gears of the complex but sputtering U.S. economy. If additional taxes are not matched by real cuts in government...
