Congratulations on the first words you have written that make any sense whatsoever.

Obama's Intent to Gut the Military

Charlotte...you do not have the faintest idea as to why people join the military. You have convinced yourself that if we would just gut our military our enemies would suddenly become friends. Far from the truth! Our enemies despise our countries' freedoms and wish for the day when they can truly punish us. Our military is the ONLY bulwark protecting our personal freedom, and you should learn that truth to the extent that you could thank those who serve for their efforts on YOUR behalf.

Happy Birth Certificate, Mr. President

Excellent discussion of facts.
A declaration of war was intended to apply to a particular country (countries). The most likely conflicts now are not of this nature. What country should be named our foe when the militants are not linked to any particular country but to an ideology that may be more general in nature and may, or may not, be responsive to any particular governmental control? When our country faces conflict of this nature a response is necessary, however, it does require oversight by congress and the courts. If, and when, this conflict is imposed by a governing bodies of a country or countries, then a declaration of war becomes appropriate and the constitutional strictures apply.
The furor generated by the 'rationing' of health care is in reality all about the provision of goods to people who do not have the means, do not choose to distribute their available means to critical goods, or otherwise fail to provide for themselves adequate health care. Where in the constitution is the requirement to use government to provide products and services to citizens? It is a humane emotion to wish all had adequate health care, housing, food, etc. It is a slippery slope to provide these items to those who cannot pay. That slope increases as the assistance is provided to those who spend their available monies on myriad non-essential goods. When this type assistance becomes ingrained there is no pressure to more carefully...

Travesty of Justice

This trial was not designed to determine the guilt of Ahmed Ghailani, but of the 'travesty' that Guantanamo thrust upon the legal system. I fully expect the legal system to now put the perpetrators of 9-11 on trial in the US...find them guilty and sentence them to death. Oh...they are already dead...my bad!

Why Sarah Palin Shouldn't Run

Robert870 Wrote: Nov 19, 2010 8:40 AM
Why write an article listing reasons why Sarah Palin should not run for president? It would seem that anyone has the right to run...and voters have the right to accept or reject any candidate. Remember the last election in which Republican voters selected John McCain? Proof of my thesis!

The "Gridlock" Bogeyman

Without gridlock liberals would spend us into third world status. It is not China's innovation that is the problem, it is their massive monetary advantage fueled by a clamp on their currency's value. They have financed US profligacy for years and should they demand repayment of our debt would bring this country to its knees instantly.

What Should a Republican Majority Do?

Robert870 Wrote: Oct 22, 2010 11:39 AM
My greatest fear is that Republicans will engage in endless hearings regarding Democrats misadventures rather than in setting forth meaningful policy/legislation. It is right and proper for them to produce a road map of legislation detailing the path to rational government even if vetoed as that will set the tone for the next presidential election. The need to curtail spending must be addressed as is the need to modify the health care monstrosity. I do not envy the next group of politicians the task of making good from the heap of rubbish that is ObamaCare!

Rockefeller Republicans

Purity of conservative thought is wonderful...when the majority of voters approve. To believe that a majority of voters in a Democrat leaning state are conservatives is a stretch. Ms O'Donnell will have a tough time rounding up moderate independents and Democrats in support of her conservative cause. One can say that it is better to try and elect conservatives, however, it is every bit as important to understand and support the will of the voters. I wish Ms O'Donnell well, but she will have an uphill battle. That said, she won the support of the Republican primary voters and it is incumbent upon the Republican party to rally in support of those who chose her to seek election in November.
