Senators & Congresspersons can be emailed through 'senate.gov' & 'house.gov'. Let us politely and relevantly keep after them, not just to sya 'no' to Obamacare, but until we get true, bipartisan, susstainalbe healthcare reform. (tip: review the Swiss system and its flirtation with US style excess profits.)You don't have to be a genius. Find books on what other industrialized nations are doing. It's like forcasting the weather: hard from a window, easier from a mountain top, and from a satellite with multiple exposures, most of us could do pretty well. We must sudy to gain the high ground.

In a sense, the race card being played indicates the Obamacare advocates realize that they cannot carry their arguments forward based upon merit or popular discussion; all they have left is race baiting & character assassination. They have proven themselves untrustworthy. And, then comes Reid and his proposed abuse of House and Senate reconciliation, the 'nuclear option': just get the Republicans to sign onto something, and then cram Obamacare down our throats. Cram it in any case, right Senator Reid? But, there is a different path with which Obama can rise to greatness. This involves putting the constitution, private property, & sustainable reform above special interests.

In his speech before the joint houses of congress, Obama said he would now consider tort reform in the sense he'd have his Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, consider some tort reform trials, but would still not include tort reform in Obamacare. Why not just look into the results where tort reform has already been passed, like Texas and Kansas? And, then comes Biden saying tort reform would never be included because of the opposition of the trail lawyers, major Democrat fund raisers... And, isn't this the same Kathleen Sebelius that fought so vigorously against tort reform in Kansas? That Obama spoke out of both sides of his mouth on that one suggests a kind of arrogance: speak to those who study the issue and...

We need health reform. Just as the trial lawyers need to be curbed (eg- see Texas & Kansas tort reforms), the profits of the health care industry and health insurance industry needs reform. Further, Wall Street should not be dictating the acceptable Rate of Return (ROI) for hospitals, HMO's and the like. But, the full court press without regard to any concensus building and the misleading statements of Obamcare advocates and their cry of "racist!", surely indicate this whole matter needs reset, started over from zero, and entered into by those who seek a sustainable, long term reform, rather than the cronyism that Obamacare represents. Tort reform, using the commerce clause correctly to facilitate interstate trade in health insurance,...

Much would be clarified to the Obama socialist if they understood better the roll of profit in the economy. The Obamanistas seem to share the view that all profit is evil, while any economics class reveals many kinds of profits exist. What concerns us here is the total disregard for 'normal profit', that is the profit beyond his labor cost, including his own, without which an entrepreneur would leave the business. Profit represents the contribution of the doctor or businessman their community. Derived from the purchase transaction, it is validated objectively by a willing buyer & a willing seller. I'm not talking about the monopolistic profits that are derived or extorted as a partial result of Wall Street dictating what return on...

This is to those of you who don't appreciate Sowell. I am still a student of economics, having been a reader since 1971. Sowell is brilliant and clear sighted. Like Joan Robinson, he can slice & dice the numbers, but he can be as or more bright when the only numbers are the ones on the page(s). His Liar series is one of those. Those who don't appreciate this little series of his should re-read it.

That expropriating of the private healthcare industry will bring major deficit contributions, Obamacare advocates seek to sidestep. The taking by government of the private property involved with the Obamacare proposals is offensive, no matter over what period of time it is carried out. People do well to consider that expropriation refers to confiscation of private property & the income streams derived there from, with the stated purpose of establishing social equality. The term appears as "expropriation of expropriators (ruling classes)" in Marxist theory, or as slogan "Loot the looters!", very popular during the Russian October Revolution. Yet, central ownership of productive assets versus private diversified ownership almost always...

Those who say any who criticize Obama are racists use argument AD HOMINEM, a most basic logical fallacy. Obama's arguments stand or fall, are valid or not, are wholly true or wholly false, are partially true or partially false, based upon their own merits. Whether Obama is black or white, short or tall, thin or fat, an American citizen or not, young or old, educated or illiterate, socialist or mixed market oriented, are all irrelevant to the merits/demerits of Obamacare. What matters is the validity of the proposals and the effects that will result. The truth of Obamacare rests on the proposals themselves and the related consequences, intended or not. Those who call Obamacare's critics "racists" point away from consideration of the...

Of course, "race" is a weasel word that has little scientific merit. Some Greeks have kinky hair, some south Pacific islanders have large lips, the Ainu from Hokaido have white skin, etc. Go to the contrived line of what a race is and there are many who stand across that line. Science teaches that any creature that can interbreed is the same species. Christianity (and most world religions) teaches that we are all the children of God. And, our American tradition, however tortured its history may be construed ( especially by those who do not love it), puts all people equal before the law, and advances freedom. Yet, some do not agree that racism is against science, against God, and against the American way. Some say only whites can...
