Stewards is not an adjective I would apply to any elected official anywhere in the country. No doubt there are some, but the others are so bad at protecting the assets of a community, county, state, or federal agency, that they are all painted with the same brush. I am not sure that there are any sufficiently honest citizens left in the world to be entrusted with the resources of any governmental agency. We have allowed charlatans to assume the responsibility of government, and we are now seeing what we have sowed come home to roost. No government should ever be allowed to go into debt for any reason, no money, no buy, no credit cards either, the interest is too high.
An Internet search is inconclusive as to where the phrase "no skin in the game" originated. Some ascribe it to the late columnist William Safire; others to investor Warren Buffett. Politicians often use the phrase to justify policies to their liking. It can also be applied to the latest in a long list of their outrageous behaviors, as well as to those of President Obama.
