I've said it before and I'll say it again. Let Detroit sink into bankruptcy and then let the sane people pick up the pieces. It is the only lesson that can be taught to the city council in Detroit. It started with Coleman and continued right through Kwame Kilpatrick.

Just a little while ago a Detroit City Council woman said in an open meeting that they helped King OH 1 get elected and re- elected and now he 'owes' them big time. Wait till he throws them under the business he hasn't already.

The sane people leave. There is no bottom for this kind of rot. Institutions don't fix themselves because those who run them milk them, until, like the Easter Islanders, they cut the last tree. The only possible fix is to turn off the money that keeps the parasites in power. Even then it may not work. Welfare, block grants all subsidies, food stamps, all of it must go. Then the parasites go to California and others can come in a pick up cheap real estate and start over. Like new growth after a forest fire.

Detroit is the largest city in American history to be seized in this fashion and turned over to an outside manager.

Reported deficit of the city is $327 million dollars and long-term liabilities are in the range of $14 billion.

But no matter to the unions, politicians, and bureaucrats who have been at the helm for years as the city has spiraled into the depths of the black hole...
