I've said it before and I'll say it again. Let Detroit sink into bankruptcy and then let the sane people pick up the pieces. It is the only lesson that can be taught to the city council in Detroit. It started with Coleman and continued right through Kwame Kilpatrick.

Not too many years ago a retiring businessman/philanthropist offered to the city of Detroit schools two hundred million dollars to build charter high schools. The board of ed turned it down cold. Those are the people running the city of Detroit and its school system. Now they want more tax dollars. I say let them sink.

I don't know about anyone else, but I grew up in a family of nine. We live in a middle class neighborhood with mostly stay at home moms. Whenever any one of us acted up, no matter where in the neighborhood our parents heard about it. Usually with five minutes. I know my parents gave the other moms permission to swat us if needed and we didn't yell about it because we usually deserved it. My parents taught us respect and Christian values. We didn't have much other than family, but that was sufficient for us.
