I'm at a total loss on why the House won't pass the Senate bill extending the tax cuts for income under $250,000. We want this also, so it won't be giving into Republication demands.

what is the POINT of taxing the rich more?
they already pay more taxes, and this additional tax increase will do nothing towards balancing the budget.
But it WILL affect jobs and the economy in a negative manner, something we NEED to avoid.

So WHAT is this tax increase supposed to achieve? ? ?

it appears to be just punishment for being rich. it's very unfair and not equal treatment under the law.

If tax cuts are good for those making less than 250 grand, why would it be bad for those making more than 250 grand? Both are good and what would be better would be for the pigs in office to spend less of the taxpayers' money for their favorite spending programs!

The White House has been hyping its #My2K Twitter hashtag in an attempt to galvanize supporters to contact their Congressional representatives to demand action to avert the fiscal cliff.  The administration estimates that unless Congress moves, the average family's tax bill will jump by more than $2,000, starting on the first of January.  The implication, of course, is that Republicans are once again standing in the way of resolving this problem.  Show of hands -- as the media breathlessly follows every minor twist and turn of these negotiations, how many of you have seen this fact reported?
