Liberal Jewish-Americans can sometimes suffer from a guilt complex. They feel guilty that some other Jews have cast off the ghetto mentality of their fathers, and instead built a strong, proud, Jewish nation on the ancestral Jewish homeland. I think they prefer the victim status they enjoyed before 1948. Who doesn't want the whole world crying over your misfortunes?
