Republicans promise that opting out of Social Security will bring great benefits to the young ones who would then be able to invest their social security money into the stock market? Here's what Republicans said about moving US military personnel from pensions to private 401k plans. "Wall Street is a ponzi scheme." or "US soldiers perform a dangerous task and need to be protected." Why is the stock market a great thing for people opting out of social security but not a great thing to replace the statist/socialistic military pension plans?

6. Ronald Reagan was a “bellicose peacenik.” He wrote in his memoirs that “[m]y dream…became a world free of nuclear weapons.” “This vision stemmed from the president’s belief that the biblical account of Armageddon prophesied nuclear war — and that apocalypse could be averted if everyone, especially the Soviets, eliminated nuclear weapons,” the Washington Monthly noted. And Reagan’s military buildup was meant to crush the Soviet Union, but “also to put the United States in a stronger position from which to establish effective arms control” for the the entire world — a vision acted out by Regean’s vice president, George H.W. Bush, when he became president.

5. Ronald Reagan did little to fight a woman’s right to choose. As governor of California in 1967, Reagan signed a bill to liberalize the state’s abortion laws that “resulted in more than a million abortions.” When Reagan ran for president, he advocated a constitutional amendment that would have prohibited all abortions except when necessary to save the life of the mother, but once in office, he “never seriously pursued” curbing choice.

That is his first budget. FY2009 was Bush's budget. Even a 5th grader can see that revenues will go down due to the recession, so deficit spending almost has to take place during these times."

Republicans love Joe Wilson who uttered "YOU LIE" to the president when he was simply maintaining the Bush policy of providing health care to people who showed up at the hospital with the wrong skin hue. Here's a question to all the card-carrying Republicans out there. When Jesus says, "How you treat the least amongst you, is how you treat me." Who are the least amongst us?

People often say this of those receiving military (government) health benefits, "The person receiving the benefits not only put something into the system, they voluntarily agreed to it and signed their name to the contract." So true, but the benefits to pay those costs come from somewhere, don't they? Have those people signed a contract, somewhere? A word of 'small government' advice to the Republicans out there, the next time you want to do social engineering in a foreign country, like IRAQ, how about coming up with a mechanism to pay for it and the war!

3. Unemployment soared after Ronald Reagan’s 1981 tax cuts. Unemployment jumped to 10.8 percent after Reagan enacted his much-touted tax cut, and it took years for the rate to get back down to its previous level. Meanwhile, income inequality exploded. Despite the myth that Reagan presided over an era of unmatched economic boom for all Americans, Reagan disproportionately taxed the poor and middle class, but the economic growth of the 1980's did little help them. “Since 1980, median household income has risen only 30 percent, adjusted for inflation, while average incomes at the top have tripled or quadrupled,” the New York Times’ David Leonhardt noted.
