If abortion were a crime it would be defined as a crime in and of itself. It would not need to be defined as a form of another existing crime. "First degree murder" is a crime, and a charge, not a punishment. Presumably a legislature which defined abortion as a crime would also designate the punishment for that crime.

This song and dance is getting old. Once again a Democrat flack, after weeks of obfuscation and deceit, "takes responsibility" but bears no consequences. Kabuki theater, anyone?
They do not deny care. They deny insurance coverage for that care, i.e. they refuse to pay for it. Pragmatically it's the same difference for a lot of us, but legally it's important. Nothing prevents you, in theory, from going out and getting any care you want for which you can find a provider.
And that will work just fine if you don't work for a self-insured national corporation not subject to State regulation, not required to show the insured the actual contract (policy), and not subject to legal action by the State's insurance commissioner.

Why is 500,000 years a good baseline, as opposed to say 100,000,000 years? How do we know whether a rising atmospheric CO2 level is bad? How do we know rising global temperatures are bad? After all, millions of species flourished, and even during the age of man people and crops thrived, when global temperatures and CO2 levels were higher than they are now. When we begin ask the more fundamental questions it quickly becomes clear that mankind does not know anything like enough about how climate works to try to have global climate control policies. It's just ludicrous.
National defense is one of the fairly few things the federal government is actually supposed to do. I don't have any crystal ball to tell me what the ideal proportion of GDP or of the federal budget would be for the US or any other country, but defense spending as a proportion of GDP and as a proportion of the federal budget has been trending steadily down over time, while the costs of entitlements and social spending nowhere found in the enumerated powers have been steadily increasing as a proportion of both measures. It would seem to me to be a no-brainer to decide where the axe should fall.
Some of us who do not believe in God also do not have any issue with the public display of religious symbols. If you wish to flaunt your foolish medieval superstitions, please, knock yourself out. I do, however, have an issue with folks in various parts of the globe who insist on having wars over whose foolish medieval superstitions are correct. And just so I'm clear, not believing in the historical factuality of a given mythology does not mean that I hate the mythology or it's adherents, nor do I hate the moral lessons it teaches. OK, cue the hissy fits over calling the Christian narrative and parables myths.

Lesser of two evils. Of course, going to hell more slowly is not necessarily better, but it does afford more time to change direction.

Even taken in context, the point Obama was trying to make is still quite false, and it was deliberately presented to mislead.
While you are quite correct that all religions claim that all others are more or less mistaken, and all more or less evangelize for their beliefs and hope to persuade converts, all other religions do not make it a basic tenet of their doctrine that their self-professed "superior knowledge" entitles them to political domination of all of mankind through the use of violence.
Excuse me? You take Michelle to task for not offering solutions, but what solutions do you offer? None. One of the founding principles of our country, and the strongest argument for freedom of speech and of the press, is that the best way to counter liars and obfuscators is by broadcasting the truth. That is what Michelle does. What do you do?
