What's even scarier about learning the rules being brought to the United Kingdom and their goofy-ness is knowing that what's over there will soon happen over here. Traditionally, if the United Kingdom adopts something, the United States soon follows. Fortunately not all things !!

Repeat your source--idiot! There isn't one. You are making it up.The Brits are still 30 times safer than the Yanks. Canadians are six times safer. Beats he hell out of being in the US.

Your source ... doesn't exist. The Brits are NOT 30 times safer than the Yanks, nor are the Canucks 6 times safer than the Yanks. While it is true (and I have never maintained otherwise) that you are less likely to be murdered in each country, it is not nearly at those rates and, on a per capita basis, you are MUCH likelier to be a victim of crime (particularly home invasion while you are at home) than in the US.

True enough about knives. But you have banned almost all private ownership of firearms. God help us that this doesn't happen here.

No, you just keep banging on about how crime ridden and violent the UK is.
Just days after yet another mass shooting in your country.

I have lived in both America (2004-05) and the UK. I know which one I feel safer in.

Not quite.

Handguns were banned in 1997 on the UK mainland, but rifles and shotguns are legal. I own both. And Northern Ireland didnt ban handguns, in fact they allow concealed carry as well. Rifles/shotguns also of course legal there.

There are 930000 gun owners and 2.3 million legal firearms in the UK.

Back in my less sophisticated days (shocking as it may seem, I wasn’t always the mature, statesmanlike figure I am today), I sometimes resorted to silly arguments when debating gun control, such as, “does this mean you want to ban knives since they also can be used to kill people?”

Smarter opponents would scoff and accuse me of knocking down straw men, assuming a non-existent slippery slope, or engaging in reductio ad absurdum.

I wasn’t even sure what the last one meant, but I secretly felt chagrined because I also thought the...
