Not what Mark and DN said - some of the regulations were specific to the Israelites and their circumstances. Many of the 613 "laws" were codified judgements made by the judges and elders, i.e., case law necessary to hold the tribes together. Why is that so hard to understand?

Should we be surprised when a gay activist famous for his bawdy sex column and known for his glorification of promiscuity attacks the Bible, ridicules Christian morality, and mocks the Pope in the lewdest of terms? Not at all.
