I'm all for defending Republicans, but Quail was, and still is, an idiot. The first Pres. Bush was picked as VP to placate the moderate wing of the Republican party, and was elected Pres. because there wasn't a prominent conservative to fill the void left by Reagan. Both Bushes were disasters as presidents and Quail was an example of horrible Bush decision making. Quail wasn't protecting the moron teachers. They may not have been able to spell potato, but Quail couldn't spell it either.
