There is one major misconception about the high wages Hentry Ford paid. He didn't do it out of benevolence; he did it because he wanted the best workers and he wanted to get the most out of them. He paid so much higher than other factories that every single one of them worked extremely hard to make sure they kept that job. The wage differential was too big to risk by doing lousy work or not putting in a best effort. Ford got exactly what he wanted - good work - and exactly what he paid for.
