I invite all who follow and love to read Prof. Williams to read a book he penned the forward to. The book is " The Real Lincoln" by Thomas J. DiLorenzo published 2002 Forum publishing. Think of the date when you read it and then think not of Republicans or Democrats but of people who are Constitution minded and those as Prof. Williams so aptly puts it a living Constitution. The comparison of the two Senators from Illinois is remarkable and their actions are following along side each other. The book describes what Lincoln did and it was not about freeing the slaves( he was not interested in that) but about a centralized government with complete control over press, religion, arms,sates rights, individual liberties. Read it!

While I have no real debate with the issue you are raising, there was no Senator Lincoln from Illinois. Lincoln debated Douglas in the Senate race of 1858 and Douglas won. Lincoln was a US Congressmen representing a district from Illinois but never served in the US Senate.

For decades, it has been obvious that there are irreconcilable differences between Americans who want to control the lives of others and those who wish to be left alone. Which is the more peaceful solution: Americans using the brute force of government to beat liberty-minded people into submission or simply parting company? In a marriage, where vows are ignored and broken, divorce is the most peaceful solution. Similarly, our constitutional and human rights have been increasingly violated by a government instituted to protect them. Americans who support constitutional abrogation have no intention of mending their ways.
