The July 4th Question: 236 Years After The First Revolution Is It Time For A Second?

I would be all for the States disbanding the Federal government in order to re-establish it under our Constitution as it was designed. The Federal government has over stepped its authority for 100 years and it is time to real it in. If we were to put the Federal government back to its rightful place, we could cut spending by 75% overnight and be out of debt within a few years.

You are absolutely correct. The government has multiple departments that are not compliant with the Constitution. But when they need to cut spending...the first thing they bring up is Social Security and the Military. Just as we can no longer afford to pay for the fringe benefits of the unions....America can no longer pay for the fringe benefits of the elists called representation. Their retirement needs to be dumped into ss and they need to be paid on the same principle as We The People since a Democratic president, Johnson, took social security out of its interest bearing account and put it into the general fund and they spent the money, only to issue ss worthless bonds to the tune of 1.5 trillion dollars, bonds that they cannot cash.

Let’s start with a shocking, but true premise: If you are a patriotic American, you believe that there are circumstances under which it is right to take up arms against your own government. That statement feels wrong to me. It reeks of militia and McVeigh and toothless loons holed up with guns in cabins in order to avoid paying income taxes.

But the fact remains that the rationale for the existence of the nation known as the United States of America, which first appeared in print 236 years ago today, is entirely dependent on the premise...
