I think of Pickett which made very good slide rules until the advent of the first hand calculators by Texas Instruments. Seemingly overnight, Pickett disappeared. My Detroit Grandfather told me of the number of harness and buggy whip manufacturers in the Detroit area that moved on to other things or went out of business when the automobile took hold. Natural consequence of change.
D G: They're working on it.

He couldn't "recall the exact number"? Great Horned Toads! How many ARE there?
Roger: He gives Ambulance Chasers a bad name, doesn't he?
Occupy82: Do you get out often? From your diatribe it appears that you spend waaay too much time online instead of THINKING. Get all this from the professoriat, did you? It shows. If the devotees of the "Religion of Peace" are offended then let them go to Moslem U, instead. See ya on the barricades, pal.

The only thing missing from this trip down '60s memory lane is tear gas. I grew up in Northern Virginia during that period and my Dad, who worked in DC, would tell me to not go in to town as they would likely be using tear gas on the anti-war protesters. Ah, the sweet memories of the past for these fornicating fools.

When we lived in Durham, NC 15 years ago, we were shocked to see Duke announce that they had remediation classes for Freshmen. At Duke University? That told me that the Academy as well as K-12 education is sick. Wonder how many other Universities, top or otherwise, have remediation for Freshmen? How do you get into such schools if you can't do the three Rs at a high level, at bare minimum?

Agree with Walter Williams. As an Aircraft mechanic, A&P, my family flies as well as the millions of others. There isn't an Airline Executive alive who'd knowingly take the chance that hundreds would be killed because he saved some money on maintenance. The potential for criminal/civil losses with the destruction of their line's reputation ain't gonna happen. The critics assume that pilots, mechanics, and other ground personnel don't care. What nonsense.

Bibi said NO and the Kenyan doesn't like that, don't you know. Wonder if his ideas would change if DC were being struck by rockets daily?
