... the law was given, in this case, as a 'curb' to keep us from harming one another and promoting civil peace.

Jesus was speaking of personal revenge as opposed to collective military service. As a Christian, to be persecuted for Jesus sake is different from being persecuted as an American. One can belong to the heavenly kingdom at the same time being a citizen of a country in this world and serving in Military. John the Baptist said after being asked by a soldier what they must do and he simply said "do not extort money and don't accuse people falsely, be content with your pay." There is a difference between civilian/individual taking of life (murder) and killing as a soldier in execution of your duty to protect your country. Until Christ returns, governments are charged with protecting their citizens first... and administering justice...

So.
The denigration of Christianity, mocking or not honoring people is not a government plot in as much as it is an attitude that reflects a society that is becoming more degenerate as we go. And it will get worse as people turn from God and become more god-less... we do reap what we sow, more than we sow, later than we sow. It keeps us longer than we want to stay and cost more than we want to pay (or what we want others to pay for our mistakes!).

The problem with revenge or justice is, even when a criminal is convicted and sentenced, it doesn't fill the void or loss. It may feel good for a while, but feeling good and being right are two different animals. The best thing is to allow God to heal the hurt over time and trust His promise to never leave nor forsake you. Jesus said, "Come to me, you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest." Common sense laws and their enforcement need to prevail and not agenda filled knee jerk reaction.

The better ideas are out there but for some reason (or none at all) common sense seems to be faulty the closer you get to DC and surrounding government infected areas. When some of the important information concerning the mental state of the killer continues to not be taken into account the full scope of need is drastically diminished. Also, why do republicans in particular need to approach them... why do they need to be approached at all except to offer support and condolences... Not let 'a crisis to go to waste..." as Obamanites posits is the Democratic approach to 'bait and switch' agenda change.

So! There is never an excuse to have such disregard for the life of another. In a world where many choices avail us, why do you deem more would be necessary? There is only one moral choice... do not terminate/kill. The root of the problem is sin/that wayward bent away from all that is good and right. To pervert this means to play lip service to the needs of others while not lifting one finger to help. To even pick and choose stories based on what a network perceives the people want to see/hear about is not the kind of journalism that makes for free public discourse only more propaganda to enable the mass 'blindness' this country suffers.
or babies with 'snipped' necks... That evil is put for good and good is put for evil is very prevalent on most college campuses that purport to be place where free exchange of ideas are ideal. Yeah, right!
