Laws are instruments of POWER. If you declare that the POWER of a state extends to the realm of deciding a woman must bear a child, then you are also declaring the state has the POWER to declare that a woman must not bear a child. The ignorance of declaring such a state POWER defies explanation to a logical mind.
Uh, I hate to upset the apple cart here but the reason Obama is talking "grand compromise" is because now that he has secured his victory, he no longer has to fear his progressive base. He can now seek the agreement on entitlements without any effective backlash from them. He knows he has their votes in the next few days. It is too late for his base to desert him.

The Third and FINAL Debate: Romney Won

One of the things you have to avoid is saying things which you, yourself, know is not true. Obama won the debate and it was not close. Not because Obama was so good but because Romney is clearly not qualified to hold the office he is seeking. It is really no more complicated than that.

Can a Conscientious Liberal Back Obama?

It was the 2008 election that convinced me to become a GREEN so I officially registered as one though I had been one in fact for many years. It had nothing to do with Obama or Hillary but their primary battle convinced me that neither one was a Roosevelt progressive. Though both sometimes used progressive slogans, it was clear from the beginning that both accepted the basic conservative trade dogma that created the world crisis we now experience. The answer is quite clear for me. The way I see it, I just refuse to waste my vote casting it for a Democrat instead of voting for what I believe. Why should I reduce my expectations for others. I shall never vote Democrat again.
