There is little reason not to home school your children and the vast majority of parents no longer need to give up their jobs to do so. There are home school networks all across the country whereby parents can have others in the network teach their children certain subjects while they, the parents, work. Many parents can accomplish education goals in three or four hours in the evening and use weekends for experiential or exploratory learning opportunities. The Kahn Academy has free course work for nearly every subject, parents can enroll themselves in non-credited Community College online classes and let their children do the work, and Coursera also offers non-credited college level courses that help advance your high school student.

Debbie Squires, the infamous Michigan Elementary/Middle School Principals Association bureaucrat who told a Michigan legislative committee that parents may not know what is best for their children is now saying they should “stay informed” and “voice their concerns to legislators,” according to Hometownlife.com.

Squires was addressing a group focused on school aid and urged attendees to talk to legislators to stop school choice legislation, such as the parent trigger or expanded for-profit options.
