No, parents are no more and no less involved than they have ever been and students are no more or no less motivated than they have ever been. Dumbed down curriculums, failed pedagogy, and a total inability to inspire and instruct are at all time highs, they only way that changes is to move children away from those that continue to support failure and promote incompetence.
