Our only alternative is for this Republic return to it's roots, Judeo/Christian principles. I think it may have been Madison who rightly said, this government will only work for a moral and religious people. And boy are we seeing his prophecy coming true. We have only GOD to

@Ress: sadly, I agree with this. The Republican party hasn't represented my way of looking at things ever. Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, all the statist redistribution schemes should be removed. Victimless crimes should not be crimes. I *do* believe in police, fire, a court/legal system, and defense (both state militias and a federal based army). But the current Fascist type system we have? Nope.

Most folks feel free because personal freedoms haven't changed much.. but the amount of gov't intervention in business is extreme.. we lost a LOT there.

Despite talking for months about using the debt ceiling as leverage to get Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to pass a budget, spending cuts and entitlement reform, House Republicans are expected to vote on a temporary debt ceiling increase tomorrow.

House leaders on Monday unveiled legislation to permit the government to continue borrowing money through May 18 in order to stave off a first-ever default on U.S. obligations. It is slated for a vote on Wednesday.
