Anti-gun bigots were trying to outlaw handguns long before they dreamed up the "assault weapon" lie. Remember the slogan Saturday Night Special, and the bait and switch scam the slogan was used to sell? If the liberal cult can revive the "assault weapon" lie and use it successfully (which is unlikely), there is no doubt they will go after handguns next. That is, the few handguns left after semi-automatics with detachable magazines are outlawed. I'll be interested in seeing if the Saturday Night Special lie will be revived or if they'll come up with a totally new slogan.
