The majority of Shriver's arguments are rather illogical, but her comment about creating a Title IX equivalent for the sciences is especially upsetting. As a female senior in chemical engineering planning to attend graduate school, I know from experience that science and engineering requires people with a different mindset than psychology does. That's obvious. Creating a Title IX for the "harder" majors would be a huge insult to the women who have already worked hard through the program, know how difficult and challenging yet rewarding the coursework is, to be told, "oh, anyone can do that, they're just 'being blocked' or deciding not to because of tradition."
